Why is my laptop reporting less memory than it actually has.

The second memory slot is under the keyboard. To access this memory slot you first need to remove the plate above the keyboard. This plate contains the power button. To remove this plate turn the laptop over and remove the three screws that secure the plate. Turn the computer over and then carefully remove the plate using a flat blade screwdriver. With the plate removed the screws securing the keyboard will be visible. Remove these screws and the second memory slot will be displayed. When replacing memory, it is not generally recommended to have two mismatched memory cards, so either match the memory cards or use a single DDR SODIM memory card.
